Schaeffler and DMG MORI are working to develop additive manufacturing processes for rolling bearing components made of graded materials in small batch sizes using laser deposition welding. PC150-5 Excavator slewing ring bearings The basis of the processes come from DMG MORI's LASERTEC 65 3D hybrid, which uses two powder feeders to enable targeted control of the changeover from one material to another during laser deposition welding. This allows for the creation of graded materials with a smooth transition between the different material properties.
